A Call For Men

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

A Call For Men: Bibb county, is a local series of casual meetings designed to come alongside, encourage, and help Bibb county Alabama men get on top of life issues and grow through the power of Jesus Christ. In this group it is alright to be confused, scattered, or hurting. Jesus heals. He uses friends and fellow Christians to strengthen and uphold one another. We are all on a journey from hurt to health.

“‘I will feed my flock and I will lead them into rest’, declares the Lord God. ‘I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick; but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with judgment'” Ezekiel 34:15-16 (ESV).

We also desire to fellowship with men in all walks of life. In this group we need men who are able to lead, teach, and hold men accountable. We desire to focus on men and their families. We desire to sevre the community in various ways, for example, Sav-A-Life in Brent/Centreville, Compassion and Hope Food Bank and Soup Kitchen, and Be The Village.

“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” 2 Timothy 2:2 (ESV).

TESTIMONIALS

“I never have been involved with a group of men, involved with discipleship, as with A Call For Men. This group has lead me to search deep within myself to, by the Holy Spirit’s guidance, interact with the men of this group to seek and find the roots of what ails me. Hearing that my fellow men deal with some of the same issues that I deal with has allowed me to be open and honest with people. I never had this quality, nor even desired before.

In A Call For Men, we connect with each other so that we may move forward in our Lord Jesus, Christ — not only that we may mature in Him, but that as He leads us we may (as a group and individuals) live and lead others to be the kingdom men which He has called us to be.”

“Before I joined A Call For Men, I loved my family but I was a bit distant from them. I wasn’t always sure of the best way to grow closer to my wife and kids, but once I joined A Call For Men, the weekly meetings, the quality friendships, and the specific encouragements, and being held accountable to making actionable changes in my family, changed my life.

I can honestly say that A Call For Men is a main reason why I have the healthy relationship with my wife and children that I do, and why my family is as stable as it is. To anybody who feels lost or stuck, but who wants to grow stronger through it: please consider joining. I can recommend it without hesitation.”

“A Call For Men has been life changing for me. It’s allowed me to look at problems I’ve had in my life and, with the help of the men and most importantly Jesus Christ, I’ve been able to start facing these issues. It’s comforting to know that these men are going through stuff just as I am.
We all have crap in our lives we’d hope to forget or get over, but we never do because we think we can stuff it into a hole and leave it there. A Call For Men forces us to ‘man up’ and face these issues that way you can finally be able to move on. It’s made my relationship with my son, wife, and daughter so much stronger. It’s something we all as men need.”

“After spending many years in California it was time to come home to Alabama. It was time to give back to the community I was raised in. Searching for a way to serve the community, I volunteered to work on the QA board for the Alabama Department of Human Resources. As I continued to do reviews of cases for the board, one thing continued to show up over and over again. Whatever it was, was generational. There was no real leadership in many of the homes of the cases I was reviewing. When it came time for men to lead and be responsible, they did not know how to be responsible, they did nothing, or they ran from the responsibility.

The men of the cases I had reviewed need to accept responsibility, reject passivity, and lead courageously; and that is true for all men today. That is when, and why, I started A Call For Men. We help train men to be strong leaders and to understand what Authentic Biblical Manhood is about. We are also a support group that realizes how important it is to have continuous support from other men. I express joy to see men that know they are not in this life alone. We have been blessed in Christ, and we are encouraged to show the real joy of manhood with other men. Another great joy is watching men when they realize they are on the right path, and are walking with other men who care and are supportive on this journey called life.”

Bring a member of A Call For Men has changed my life in many ways.  I am learning to be a beter father, in not being quick to anger.  Going through the process of learning what Biblical manhood is, is making me a better husband.  My wife and I still struggle, but we don’t fight any more.  We don’t go to bed anger with each other either.  Through this group of Christian men, I now call brothers, constantly holding me accountable I know I am a better man.  Through my own Bible study, and gaining knowledge by walking with the men of A Call For Men, I am a better husband and father.

I urge you men to step up and join the call!
